Allegheny Aqueduct/ Beidler House
The Schuylkill Navigation Company built the Allegheny Aqueduct in 1824. This “bridge for boats” was needed for the water of the canal to successfully cross over the Allegheny Creek. Restoration of the Aqueduct took place in 1983 and the structure was listed as a National Historic Site. The Beidler House was built in 1783 by Conrad Beidler to serve as a home for the operator of the nearby grist mill. The house is now open by appointment and for special programs.
